Early on in my speaking journey, my events were spaced far enough apart that I could keep all the details for the next event in mind as I planned. As planning for events started to overlap, great communication with event planners and fabulous record-keeping of the details became essential.
I recommend creating a document that you can use for each event with all the details included. Here are some questions to discuss in your first conversation with an event planner:
- What is your/your team’s vision for the event? What are your hopes and dreams for the outcomes?
- Is the event more geared toward encouragement, outreach or challenge?
- What is the age range of the audience?
- What is the spiritual maturity of the audience?
All of these questions determine how your message is developed, so it’s important both for prayer for the event and message development to have this information.
I’ll talk more next week about essential information to collect.
